6/11 Italy

I have only been here a matter of days and have already tried (eating) so many different foods, pomegrantes, persimons and prickly pear.  I never even realised that the prickly pear plant produced an edible fruit.  The one I tried had red flesh and apparently the flesh is usuwally the colour of the outside of the fruit.  Aunty Linas pie, which she has made for us on several occasions now is simply d elicious.  this is a potato pie with egg and ham in the centre, the pie is coated with very fine bread crumbs.  She has also made us chicory and chilles, she says this is the best medicine going and will cure almost everything.  she has it every day.  Now she wants me to try snail - I think I will need to have a few vinos first.  Lynne laughs as she tells me, everytime it rains Aunty Lina is out in the garden calling and talkint to snails and then collecting them and preparing them to eat.  I am not really sure how I feel about this but will give it a go.  Had a trie of typical Italian coffee today, a little strong for me I must say.  Two mouthfuls and it is gone.

Sandra, it must be sooo nice to eat normal food again, and not have to look for accommodation each night. 'The Heathcote Cup' was alot of fun, with 20 of us enjoying the sunshine, lunch and of course the Yacht race on the swimming pool. Everyone had a great belly laugh, and we raised $110 for BMDI which is waiting for your return. Love, Fayeeeeeeeee M
