For those who are not aware I have updated the blog for 4/11. Sorry all this is a bit out of whack but it has been very hard trying to get access to the internet. Bianco is not up with the latest technology and to date Lynne has not been able to get connected. She is waiting on her cousin and nothing happens in a hurry around here. Decisions are talked about and mulled over for some considerable time. As Lynne continually says - nothing goes to plan, you need to learn to surrender.
The experiences here are amazing. The family has accepted me as their own. Lynnes cousin Ugo and his family were going away for a couple of days and told Lynne we could use Carlas (his wife) car whilst they were away. They have a public holiday here to celebrate all saints day. It is a very big thing here with most families going to visit the cemetery. Well like me Lynne had not dirven for a couple of months and she has never before driven in Europe (on the opposite side of the road). It was a real scream, when we first took off my heart was in my mouth. It is a strange feeling sitting on the wrong side and not having a steering wheel to hang onto. We were driving so close to the outside edge (my side) at times we were clipping the branches, not only branches but Lynne managed to clip the mirror on the side of a car. So I was then given the responsibility to warn Lynne when we were getting too close to the edge. It wasnt long before she got the hang of it, however we were driving up to here Aunty Linas who lives in the old town and near the top of the mountain, we started going up and the car ran out of oomph! so we had to roll back down the hill, fortunately there were no cars. The second attempt Lynne floored it and I prayed - we made it! The car is very tiny and the mountain very steep.
more to come
